Aldi Mamia
Mamia Nappies, Size 3, Jumbo Pack
7.8/10 overallAbout £7 for a Jumbo Pack (44-50 nappies)
Aldi's own-brand nappy, consistently rated one of the best budget options for leak protection.
Mamia is Aldi's own nappy range, and it has built a genuine reputation for punching well above its supermarket price point — multiple independent parenting-press tests have rated it competitively against premium brands like Pampers on overnight leak protection, largely thanks to a wetness indicator strip and a reasonably absorbent core.
Against Pampers Baby-Dry in this category, the trade-off is straightforward: Mamia costs roughly half as much per nappy, and most parents report similar day-to-day performance for a typical 3-4 hourly change routine. Where Pampers still tends to have an edge is at the very top end of overnight absorbency for heavy wetters, and in softer, more consistent sizing across a full pack.
For most families doing dozens of changes a day, the cost saving over weeks and months is substantial, and Mamia is a sensible first nappy to try before assuming you need a premium brand. It's only worth switching away from if you notice consistent leaks or irritation, which is individual to each baby regardless of brand reputation.
