BabyDam
Bathwater Barrier
7.2/10 overallAbout £27
A suction-mounted barrier that dams off a section of the adult bath so babies can bathe safely in a small, shallow pool without a separate baby bath.
BabyDam works by sealing off a section of a standard adult bathtub with a suction-cupped plastic and silicone barrier, creating a small, shallow pool for your baby without needing a separate tub at all. Fill just the sectioned-off area and you use a fraction of the water and time a full bath would take.
Against the Shnuggle Baby Bath in this category, the trade-off is support versus space: Shnuggle's curved backrest holds a newborn securely from birth with no extra kit, while BabyDam gives no built-in support at all — you're bathing baby directly in the adult tub, just in a smaller pool of water, so you still need to hold or prop them yourself early on. What BabyDam wins back is storage: there's no separate tub to find room for once your baby outgrows it.
The suction seal is the main practical weak point. It works reliably on smooth, clean acrylic or enamel baths, but older or textured surfaces can let water seep past the barrier, and the seal needs re-checking each time you set it up.
It's a strong pick for families who already bath their baby in the big tub and mainly want to cut water use and avoid buying (and storing) a dedicated baby bath, rather than families who want maximum newborn support out of the box.

How we scored it
Safety & Support
How securely it holds a newborn or wriggling baby during a wash.
No built-in newborn support — unlike the Shnuggle bath's curved backrest, babies need to be held or propped separately, and suction-cup security varies with bath surface.
Ease of Use
How easy it is to fill, empty, lift and use one-handed.
Space & Storage
How much bathroom or nursery space it takes up and how easily it folds or stacks away.
Needs zero permanent storage space since it uses your existing bath — the strongest option in this category for small bathrooms.
