BIBS is the Danish brand parents reach for when a baby is struggling with silicone teats or when they specifically want a shape closer to breastfeeding, since the round latex teat (rather than the flattened orthodontic shape most brands use) more closely mimics a nipple. The whole dummy is moulded in one piece from natural rubber latex, so there's no separate teat and shield to trap moisture or bacteria between, and the heart-shaped shield with breathing holes is noticeably lighter than MAM's or Tommee Tippee's.

Against MAM Original, the trade-off is fairly clear-cut: BIBS costs roughly 60% more per dummy, and latex perishes faster than silicone (it goes sticky and discolours with UV exposure over a few months, so a pack doesn't last as long as advertised), but many parents find it the only shape their baby will reliably accept, particularly breastfed babies who reject the flatter orthodontic teats. It's also latex rather than silicone, which matters if there's any suspicion of a latex allergy in the family — check with a health visitor first.

BIBS is best bought as a trial pack rather than in bulk until you know your baby gets on with the round latex shape, given the higher price and shorter shelf life than a silicone dummy. The limitation to flag clearly: latex dummies need replacing more often (every 4-8 weeks) and can't go in a steam steriliser at the same high temperatures as silicone without degrading faster, so check the pack instructions on sterilising method.
