Comotomo's bottle is unusual in that the whole thing — not just the teat — is made from soft, food-grade silicone. The idea is that a breast-fed baby is more likely to accept a bottle that feels squeezable and skin-like rather than rigid plastic, and the wide, short teat is shaped to encourage a wide latch closer to a natural nursing position than the narrower teats on most bottles.

Venting is handled by two small anti-colic vents built into the base rather than a vent in the teat itself (the approach Dr Brown's and Philips Avent Natural Response use). In practice this means less air intake without an internal straw component to disassemble and wash, which simplifies cleaning — the bottle has only three parts and an extra-wide neck that most hands and bottle brushes can get all the way into.

Against Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature or NUK First Choice, the trade-offs are size and stability: the silicone body is soft enough to squeeze accidentally when picking it up one-handed, and because it doesn't have a rigid shape it can be awkward to stand up one-handed on an uneven surface like a car seat tray. It's also pricier per bottle than most hard-plastic alternatives, and the silicone shows scratches and a slightly cloudy look faster than polypropylene.

Best suited to babies transitioning from breast to bottle where teat shape and feel matter most, or parents who prioritise minimal-parts cleaning over a rigid, easy-to-grip shape. Less essential for a baby who's already taking a hard-plastic bottle without a fuss — in that case there's little reason to pay the premium for silicone.
