Done by Deer
Muslins, Pack of 2, Playground Blue
5.5/10 overall£9.95 for 2
A small, gift-friendly pack of double-layered cotton muslins with playful prints, priced per-cloth well above the bulk multi-packs in this category.
Done by Deer's muslins are pitched differently to the bulk packs already in this category — instead of a 10 or 12-pack for stocking every room, this is a pack of two, presented with a ribbon tie and clearly designed to double as a small gift as much as a practical newborn essential. The double-layered OEKO-TEX cotton and Croco/Elphee/Nozo prints are the appeal here rather than sheer volume.
At £9.95 for two, that works out to roughly £5 per cloth — several times the per-cloth cost of the Mothercare 10-pack or the bearmoss 12-pack, both of which are built for the reality that newborns go through muslins constantly. Two cloths won't be enough to stock a changing bag and a few rooms at once, so this suits topping up an existing stash with something nicer-looking, or as a new baby gift, rather than being the only muslins you buy.
The cotton itself is a standard woven weight rather than anything unusually plush or absorbent, so day-to-day performance sits in line with the other packs here — it's the presentation and print quality doing the work, not a material upgrade. Machine washable with line-drying recommended, and no tumble drying, which is one more step of care than some of the more basic packs.
Best thought of as the "nice one to have a couple of" rather than a replacement for a big everyday pack — pair it with a bulk pack like the Mothercare or bearmoss squares rather than relying on it alone.

How we scored it
Absorbency
How much spit-up or dribble a single cloth can soak up before needing swapping.
Softness & Size
Gentleness against newborn skin and whether the cloth is large enough to double as a light swaddle.
Double-layered cotton feels a step up from a single-layer weave, though it's not marketed as an absorbency upgrade.
Value per Pack
Cost per cloth in the pack, since these wear out and get lost fast.
At roughly £5 per cloth it costs several times more per muslin than the Mothercare or bearmoss bulk packs, which is fine as a top-up or gift but poor value as your main stash.
