First Vue
Ovulation Test Strips, 5 Pack
5.8/10 overall£1.00 for 5
A no-frills, ultra-budget LH ovulation strip test sold through Poundland, at a fraction of the cost of the branded kits in this category.
First Vue sits at the opposite end of the price spectrum to everything else in this category: five basic LH test strips for £1, sold through Poundland rather than a pharmacy or specialist fertility brand. It works on the same principle as the Easy@Home and One Step strips already here — dip, wait, read the test line against the control line — without a digital readout, smart indicator or companion app.
At roughly 20p per test, it's dramatically cheaper than the Clearblue Advanced Digital or First Response Daily Digital, both of which use digital displays to remove any ambiguity from reading the result. That ambiguity is the real trade-off here: like other basic strip tests, results depend on comparing line darkness by eye, which is more prone to misreading than a clear digital "yes/no" or smiley-face result, and First Vue doesn't publish the kind of detailed accuracy data or clinical backing that the bigger fertility brands do.
Because it's sold through a discount retailer rather than a pharmacy chain, background on the manufacturer is harder to come by than for Boots-, Clearblue- or First Response-branded kits, and the packaging and instructions are correspondingly basic. For anyone tracking a full cycle, five tests is also a thin supply — likely enough for a few days around expected ovulation, but not a full-cycle testing window the way the Easy@Home 50-pack allows.
Best suited to anyone who wants a cheap way to try ovulation testing for the first time, or as a backup pack alongside a more established brand, rather than a primary or sole method for anyone who wants confidence in the result or plans to test across a full cycle.

How we scored it
Accuracy
How reliably the test identifies the fertile window and LH surge.
Basic strip test with no digital confirmation and none of the published clinical accuracy data that Clearblue or First Response provide — usable, but the least evidenced option in this category.
Ease of Use
How simple the test is to use and read correctly.
Reading a line-based result by eye is more error-prone than the smiley-face or clear digital display on the Clearblue and First Response kits.
Value for Money
Cost per test/cycle relative to what you get.
At around 20p per test it's a fraction of the cost of the branded kits, though five tests won't cover a full cycle.
