Unlike Haakaa's better-known Silicone Breast Pump, which uses suction to actively express milk, the Ladybug Milk Collector is passive: it simply catches whatever leaks or lets down on its own while a baby feeds from the other side, so there's no pumping action and nothing to lose to a wet breast pad. Its rounded, one-piece shape has no seams or joints, which makes it quick to rinse and boil-sterilise between uses.

Against the original Haakaa Silicone Pump, the trade-off is yield versus discretion: the pump can actively draw out several ounces through suction and is the better choice for someone deliberately building a freezer stash, while the Ladybug only collects what's already letting down and won't top up supply on its own — but it sits flatter and quieter inside a bra, so it's more wearable through a full feed without needing to check on it.

It's a low-cost way to stop wasted milk soaking into breast pads in the early weeks when letdown is strong and hard to predict, particularly for anyone tandem-feeding or feeding from one side while the other leaks. The main limitation is capacity — at 75ml it can overflow during a very heavy letdown, so it still needs checking partway through a longer feed rather than being a fully set-and-forget solution.

What we liked

  • Catches milk that would otherwise soak into breast pads
  • One-piece design with no crevices to trap bacteria
  • Flat, quiet and wearable through a whole feed

Where it falls short

  • Passive only — won't actively express or build supply
  • Can overflow during a very heavy letdown
  • Less discreet under fitted tops than a slim breast pad

How we scored it

Effectiveness & Comfort

How well the product does its core job (protecting, catching, storing or covering) and how comfortable it is against skin or under clothing during real use.

8/10

Comfortable and effective for its passive-collection purpose, not a substitute for a pump.

Value for Money

Price relative to how much product you get, how long it lasts, and whether cheaper alternatives do the job just as well.

9/10

Low one-off cost, no consumables, reusable indefinitely.

Ease of Use

How simple the product is to apply, wear, wash, fill or fit one-handed with a baby in the other arm.

8/10
