Titan Pro2 i-Size

The Titan Pro2 is Maxi-Cosi's current forward-facing extended seat, covering a 76-150cm height range with an R129 i-Size rating. Unlike the birth-ready seats in this category, it isn't designed for newborns: Maxi-Cosi's own guidance puts the starting point at around 15 months, once a child can sit unsupported and has outgrown an infant or all-in-one seat. Installation is via ISOFIX connectors plus a floor-mounted support leg, which removes the seatbelt-routing errors that account for a lot of poor real-world fittings, and the seat has four recline positions to keep it comfortable as the child grows into the booster stage.

Against the other seats in this category, the trade-off is usage span versus starting age. The Joie Every Stage R129 and similar group 0+/1/2/3 seats cover birth through to age 12 in one unit, so they're the better single-seat choice for a first car seat; the Titan Pro2 is a better fit for parents replacing an infant seat once their child has outgrown it, or buying a second seat for a grandparent's car. Compared with the BeSafe Stretch2 and Axkid Movekid, which stay rear-facing for longer on safety grounds, the Titan Pro2 is a more conventional forward-facing design once installed, which some parents will prefer for visibility and ease of getting a toddler in and out.

At 12.5kg it's on the heavier side for a seat that might get moved between cars regularly, and buyers who want to keep a child rear-facing well past toddlerhood should look at the rear-facing specialists instead. For a straightforward, ISOFIX-fitted forward-facing seat from a mainstream brand with wide retailer support, it's a solid, unspectacular choice rather than a class leader on price.
