Socket Protector

This is a different kind of socket safety product to the small insert plugs most parents start with: instead of a tiny cap in each individual pin hole, it's a single cover that clips over the entire wall plate — single or double socket — leaving the plugged-in appliance connected but shielded so a toddler can't grab the plug and pull it, or get fingers near the live pins around it. That makes it better suited to sockets behind the TV, fridge, or router that stay plugged in permanently, where individual pin covers would just get in the way every time you needed the socket.

Installation is genuinely tool-free — it fits over the existing wall plate without unscrewing anything or disturbing the wiring, and a button release lets an adult access the plug when needed. Against a bag of loose pin-hole covers (the more common baby-proofing purchase), this is considerably faster to fit if you've got several always-in-use sockets to cover, though it only works on standard BSI three-pin sockets and won't fit surface-mounted trunking boxes or outdoor sockets.

It's a single-purpose product rather than part of a bundle, so most households will need several units — one per socket that's permanently occupied — which pushes the total cost above a multi-pack of basic pin covers if you're covering a whole house. Best treated as a targeted buy for the two or three highest-traffic sockets (living room, nursery, kitchen) rather than a whole-home solution on its own.
