Konfidence
Splashy™ Swimsuit with e-Flex
7.5/10 overall£24.99
A snug, fleece-lined UV swimsuit that keeps a baby warmer and better covered in the pool or sea than a standard swim nappy set-up.
The Splashy™ Swimsuit is Konfidence's warm-water baby swimsuit, made from their own e-Flex material — a softer, stretchier, recycled-plastic alternative to neoprene with a plush fleece inner lining. It has a UPF 50+ rating built into the fabric, a rear three-quarter zip for quick on/off, and covers most of the torso and upper legs, which matters far more for sun protection than it might sound: a baby paddling in a pool for an hour in just a swim nappy and hat gets very little of their skin actually protected.
Against a plain UV rash vest (the more common budget alternative sold by brands like Splash About), the Konfidence suit's fleece lining is the real differentiator — it keeps a baby noticeably warmer in UK sea and unheated-pool temperatures, which extends how long they'll happily stay in the water. The trade-off is price: a basic two-piece UV swim set from a supermarket or Splash About can cost half as much, and for a warm indoor pool session the extra insulation is unnecessary.
This is best for families doing UK beach holidays or unheated outdoor pools, where water temperature is the limiting factor on how long a baby stays in, rather than sun exposure alone. For warm indoor pools or hot-country holidays, a lighter UV suit without fleece lining will be more comfortable.
The one real limitation: babies grow through swimwear sizes fast over a single summer, and because it's a snugger wetsuit-style fit rather than a loose swimsuit, there's less room to size up and get a second season out of it.
What we liked
- UPF 50+ coverage across torso and upper legs, not just a rash vest strip
- Fleece lining keeps babies warmer in cool UK water
- Rear zip makes it quick to get on and off a wet, wriggling baby
Where it falls short
- Costs more than a basic two-piece UV swim set
- Snug wetsuit-style fit gives less room to size up season to season
- Can feel too warm for hot indoor pools or tropical holidays
